The Digital Marketer's Secret to Creating Conversions in Your Campaign

If you're anything like me, you've probably spent more time than you'd like to admit staring at a blank sheet of paper, trying to come up with a conversion-friendly headline. I know copywriters who spend hours brainstorming ideas for their client's campaigns and brainstorming ways to get those ideas past their clients'

marketers—and then another few hours trying to figure out why their brilliant headlines don't convert into sales.

In my experience as a marketer and copywriter, I've learned that it doesn't matter how good your headline is or how much research goes into crafting it. So what do we mean by "effective strategy?" We'll get into that shortly—but first, let's talk about why even awesome copy can fail without the right strategy backing it up.

Define objectives and goals

As you're thinking about how to create conversions, it can be helpful to think about the problem you're trying to solve. For example, if your goal is to get more people on your email list, then maybe that isn't a good enough reason for someone who has never heard of you. They probably won't sign up if they don't know who you are and why they should trust you with their email address in exchange for something valuable (like an ebook).

Research the audience

Researching your audience is the first step in creating a successful campaign. If you don't know who they are, how can you possibly know what to say? So first, you need to know everything about them: their age, gender, race and ethnicity, education level, income bracket, and job field.

Know the product

You need to know the product inside and out. You have to know everything there is to know about it, including its features and benefits, the competition in the market, what your audience wants and needs, where they are in their journey with you and how they're feeling.

You should also become an expert on your customer's goals.

Outline the buyer's journey

The buyer's journey is a series of steps your potential customers go through when deciding whether to buy your product. It consists of three stages: awareness, consideration, and decision.

Write a killer headline

When writing a headline, the most important thing is to be clear and concise. You should only spend a few seconds on this step because your visitors will be scanning the page (not reading), looking for something that catches their attention.

Create an irresistible offer

The secret to creating conversions in your campaign is to create an irresistible offer. So how do you do that? It's all about the three points:

  • Create something unique and valuable.
  • Make sure it's relevant.
  • Keep it affordable!

Make it easy for visitors to convert.

You want to create a seamless experience for your visitors. This means it needs to be easy for them to take the next step, whether purchasing your product, contacting you with questions or concerns, signing up for a mailing list, or following up on their order.

Conclusion
